Your patio shouldn't close at sunset.

Electric patio heaters from Bromic, Eurofase and Napoleon — hardwired and installed by our own licensed electricians.

In San Diego, the patio is the best room in the house — right up until the sun goes down. Then everyone moves inside, and the space you built for dinner outside sits empty.

An electric infrared heater warms the people and the table, not the sky. No flame and no propane tank to refill. Flip a switch and the patio stays open.

The part nobody tells you

These are 240-volt heaters. The larger models draw up to 25 amps. The manufacturer's own instructions say the heater must be permanently installed and hardwired by a licensed person — it is not something you plug into the patio outlet.

If there's no 240-volt circuit where the heater goes, we run one, sized to the heater. We check that your panel has room for it before we start, and if it doesn't, we tell you what that means before we do any work.

That's not a weekend project. That's an electrician.

Sizing it right

A heater that's too small for the space just makes the patio feel almost warm. As an example, Bromic's Tungsten Smart-Heat electric line runs from 2,000 watts, rated for up to 64 square feet, to 6,000 watts, rated for up to 144 square feet. We match the heater, and the number of heaters, to where people actually sit.

Patio heater questions

Do electric patio heaters need to be hardwired?

The 240-volt heaters we install do. Bromic's instructions, for example, say the heater must be permanently installed and hardwired by a licensed person. That usually means running a 240-volt circuit to where the heater mounts.

How much area does one electric patio heater cover?

It depends on the wattage. Bromic's Tungsten Smart-Heat electric heaters are rated from up to 64 square feet at 2,000 watts to up to 144 square feet at 6,000 watts. Larger patios usually take more than one heater.

Why electric instead of propane?

No flame, no tank to refill or store, and nothing to light. An electric infrared heater turns on with a switch and warms the people in front of it.

How much does it cost to install a patio heater in San Diego?

Every patio is quoted after we see it, because the heater size, the distance from your panel and the mounting height all change the job. Estimates for electrical work are free; the optional design consultation is $195, with $145 credited toward installation within 60 days. Lifetime labor warranty on everything we install.
